Question by Samantha: I have an overweight 2 year old yellow lab, just wanted to know the best weight loss dog food to buy?
Also, I feed him 2x per day. In the morning he gets 2 cups of dry and the evening he gets his dry and 1 can of dog food. I am substituting the can for a cup of dry. We walk an average of 1-3 miles per day, plays in the yard with my other dog & gets longer walks/hikes on the weekends. He is a stocky english lab. Thanks!

Try Nutra. It’s expensive but worth it. It also contains Glucosamine Chondrotin which is good for labs–they have a tendency for hip dysplasia.

dont waste ur money on foods……take ur dog for walks more often and give her a lot of exercise.
talk to your vet about RD. you can only get it from a vet, but it works.
Good lord, and you wonder why he is fat. Back off on the volume of food. You don’t need to put him on diet dog food. He’s not a human that has choice on what he gets to eat.
Keep giving him the dry food 2x per day, but cut it down to 1 1/2 cups at each serving. ditch the canned dog food. He doesn’t need it. I think Iams is a good brand of dry dog food.
Most important is to steer clear of human food. Don’t let him have it. It’s not good for him.
We feed our dogs Innova and when our Doxie was putting on a little weight, our vet told us that we didn’t need to find a diet food (not for this brand at least), but he consulted us as to what portionings we should adjust the feedings to.
Diet foods are unhealthy, just feed him less.
Feed him less. Way less!
